Medical Education England formally closed on 30 September 2012.
All of its functions have transferred to Health Education England
(HEE) and information can now be found at www.hee.nhs.uk.
NHS Medical Education England represents the
greatest opportunity since the establishment of the NHS in 1948 to
align professional training, education and workforce needs with the
needs of the service and patients.
The concept for MEE was first put forward by Professor Sir John
Tooke in his report Aspiring to Excellence.
MEE provides independent expert advice on education and
training and workforce planning for doctors, dentists, healthcare
scientists and pharmacists.
